The senior members of the Lady Cards displayed fitting performances for their special night in the Rike.

An unpredictable first half had both teams neck-to-neck before the Cardinals overtook the Muskies to end first half 40-26.

Both teams attempted 31 three pointers of which Muskingum connected with 21.2 percent to Otterbein’s 16.7 percent.

On defense Otterbein grabbed 60 rebounds and 23 turnovers against the Muskies who had 27 rebounds and 12 turnovers.

Senior Shea McCoy scored a game and team high 21 points with Junior Chelsea Cannon contributing 20 points for the Cardinals’s win. For the Muskies both Tori Jarrett and Hannah Nelson tied with team high 10 points each.

The Cardinals maintained a double-digit lead throughout the 2nd half until the game winning 75-49 was achieved.

“It was a much needed win. We have the OAC tournament coming up, so we need as much momentum going into that game as possible,” said McCoy. Otterbein is now No. 3 in OAC standings with 11-5 and 17-6 overall. Muskingum is at 4-12 in the OAC and 9-14 overall.

On playing the senior day game McCoy said, “Coming into the game I had mixed emotions. This day marks basically the beginning of the end of my basketball career.”

The Cardinals stay home for the game against Heidelberg next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
