Cardinals win with Blue Streaks losing more than just the game

John Carroll loses first place in OAC standings

The final score of 89-75 sealed the victory for the Cardinals who now stand at 7-14 overall and a 4-10 in the OAC.

10 minutes into the game the Cardinals established a nine point lead which they maintained comfortably through most of the game.

Freshman RaNeal Ewing scored a team-high total of 21 points for Otterbein.

“The performance today was good, because everybody contributed to the team,” said Ewing. Brice Rausch followed closely with 18 points. The team bagged seven out of 17 three-pointers and 40 rebounds.

For John Carroll, senior guards Corey Shontz led the score sheet with 21 points and Joey Meyer followed with 16. The team made nine out of 27 three-pointers and 24 rebounds. 68 free throws were attempted by both teams of which 66 percent of John Carroll’s was successful to Otterbein’s 59 percent.

The Blue Streaks are now at 15-5 overall and 10-4 OAC, making Capitol Crusaders No. 1 in OAC standings.

The Cardinals play away, against the Crusaders next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
