It wasn’t a good night for Cardinal sports.
Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams were shut down by Baldwin-Wallace in OAC play, the men 84-76 and the women 73-54.
The Yellow Jackets from Berea, OH rarely let go of leads throughout both games. This loss puts the women’s team in a three-way tie with Baldwin-Wallace and rival Capital for third in the league.
The men’s game started out on a positive note with both seniors Brice Rausch and Chris Davis being honored for surpassing 1,000 total points in their careers, but after only taking the lead twice early on, the men trailed for the rest of the game.
After coming off the bench, junior Hannah Day was the high scorer for the lady Cards with 12 points and senior Kristi Kotterman tried to help out with 11 points and four rebounds of her own.
The highest scorer for Baldwin-Wallace was Jessica Lairson with a game-high 16 points.
During the men’s game 73 free throws were shot, but B-W shot 64 percent to Otterbein’s 53 percent. Rausch and Davis added another 18 and 20 points to their landmark totals, respectively.
This weekend the men stay at home in a night game against John Carroll, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The women, who beat John Carroll earlier in the season, will tip-off away at 3 p.m.
