So far there have been over 15 awards given out for the best football players in the NCAA. Andrew Luck, not surprisingly, has won three awards but lost the quarterback of the year award. He won the outstanding player, the player of the year, and the outstanding senior quarterback award. I’d say that’s really impressive for a quarterback that returned for one more year of college.

Robert Griffen III beat out Luck for the quarterback of the year award. I agree with this because Griffen had better stats passing the ball and a better touchdown to interception ratio than Luck. He also beat out Brandon Weeden and Russel Wilson, two guys I thought would win it.

Trent Richardson walked away with the best running back award which wasn’t much of a surprise since his only competition was Montee Ball. He won though because he gained 700 yards after breaking the first tackle, sometimes six tackles on one play.

Justin Blackmon won the outstanding receiver award because he was Weeden’s number one receiver on the team. He is also in the top ten draft class on Todd McShay’s big board. I can’t wait to see him in their upcoming bowl game.

Some other notables were Tyrann Mathieu winning the defensive player of the year award and Les Miles winning the coach of the year award. Award week will conclude with the Heisman Ceremony on Saturday which could be anyone’s game right now.
